Whether it’s your very first massage or you’re a seasoned “book-it-when-life-gets-too-much” regular (honestly, same), a little preparation can help you get the absolute most out of your treatment.
If you’re visiting from Leyton, Leytonstone, or the surrounding neighbourhoods, here’s everything you need to know about how to prepare for a massage so you can fully switch off, relax, and let your body do its healing thing.
1. A quick shower goes a long way
Please try to shower before your massage appointment where possible. Not only is it more comfortable for you, but it also helps the massage oils absorb better and keeps everything feeling fresh and lovely for the session.
Real life happens though — rushing from work, childcare, workouts, the Central line chaos — I get it. Just do your best!
2. What should I wear?
Short answer: whatever you’re comfortable in.
Underwear is required, but any style is completely fine.
For women, practical pants you don’t mind getting a little oil on are usually best.
You’ll always be professionally draped with towels, and only the area being worked on will be uncovered — your comfort and privacy are top priority.
No awkward spa vibes here, promise.
3. Try not to eat right before
It’s best to avoid a big meal immediately before your massage. A full stomach + lying face down = not the most relaxing combo.
Aim to eat 1–2 hours beforehand, and drink plenty of water after your treatment to help your body flush out all the good stuff we’ve just worked through.
4. Please don’t arrive drunk
I know this sounds obvious, but it does need saying: Massage and alcohol are not a good mix, and treatments can’t go ahead if someone arrives intoxicated.
Herbal tea afterwards though? Fully encouraged.
5. Exercise before your massage can actually help
Doing a workout earlier that day or the day before can make your massage even more effective. Warm muscles respond beautifully to treatment, which means:
deeper release
better circulation
more relief from tension and soreness
Perfect if you’re training locally in Leyton or Leytonstone and booking in for recovery.
6. Let me know about anything contagious or that could be passed on
If you currently have athlete’s foot, verrucas, fungal infections, cold sores, or any other contagious skin condition, please let me know before your appointment.
This doesn’t always mean we need to cancel your massage, but it does allow me to:
avoid certain areas
adjust the treatment safely
protect both you and me from anything being passed on
Total honesty is always appreciated — and there’s absolutely no judgement here.
7. Arrive on time (5-10 minutes early is ideal)
If you can, arrive about 10 minutes early to your appointment in Leyton or Leytonstone. This gives you time to:
settle in
take a breath
switch off from the outside world
Because your massage should feel calm from the very first minute — not rushed.
Ready to relax?
If you’re based in Leyton, Leytonstone, or nearby East London, I’d love to welcome you into the space and help you feel more relaxed, less achy, and a little more like yourself again.
Your body does a lot for you. This is your reminder to return the favour. 💛
